Everybody knows the classic Newlands Horseshoe walk up Cat Bells, High Spy, Dale Head, Hindscarth and Robinson from Derwentwater. But there is another (albeit shorter) looped ridge walk in the Newlands valley that you should definitely try. Starting at Little Town, head up the steep yet delightful ridge of Scope End to Hindscarth via Red Knott and High Crag before veering west along Littledale Edge to Robinson and descending north-east to complete the 7-mile hike. I walked this route last summer in beautiful, sunny conditions – and captured the experience in this series of photos below.
